MPR: Strengthening inclusive teacher competencies requires a comprehensive strategy

 




  Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly  of the Republic of Indonesia, Lestari Moerdijat, assessed that accelerating teacher competency strengthening to realize inclusive education must be supported by accurate data and a comprehensive strategy.

"There is still a large gap between the need for competent teachers and the availability of them in the field. Therefore, a comprehensive strategy is needed to accelerate the improvement of teacher competency in implementing inclusive education," Lestari said in a statement received.

According to data from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education , as of September 2025, there were 363,921 students with disabilities across Indonesia. Of these, 199,375 were enrolled in 60,910 educational institutions providing inclusive education (SPPI).
