The Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), Ahmad Muzani, explained that he attended the funeral ceremony of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as a special envoy of President Prabowo Subianto, not in his capacity as the Speaker of the MPR.
"I was contacted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the President asked us to represent the Indonesian people and nation in Iran to attend the funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei," Muzani said.
Muzani said President Prabowo Subianto had assigned him and Foreign Minister Sugiono to attend the funeral ceremony scheduled for Thursday (9/7).
He emphasized that his presence was an assignment as a special envoy of the President and therefore did not represent the MPR as a state institution.
