Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the plan to integrate India's payment system, UPI, with Indonesia's payment system, QRIS.
Because, according to Modi, if the two are integrated, it will increase interaction between the people of the two countries as well as increase economic transactions between Indonesia and India.
At the Merdeka Palace PM Modi and President Prabowo Subianto announced plans to integrate the payment systems of the two countries during a joint press conference as part of PM Modi's state visit today.
"One of the greatest strengths of our relationship is people-to-people ties. We are very pleased (to announce plans, ed.) that India's digital payment system, UPI, will be integrated with Indonesia's payment system. This will facilitate businesses and the people of both countries," Modi said.
