Indonesian men's national hockey team captain Aulia Akbar Al Ardh said his team is now prioritizing trial matches as part of its preparations for the 2026 Asian Games.
"Thank God, the children's physical condition has improved. We are now transitioning to special preparations for games. Most of the preparation is for matches, because what we need now is games, and Indonesia still lacks them," Akbar told ANTARA during a training session at the GBK Stadium.
According to him, the need for match experience is the main focus of the coaching team to hone tactical implementation and improve team cohesion before appearing at the Asian Games.
The men's national team is scheduled to depart for Taiwan on July 24th for a series of friendly matches until the end of the month. After Taiwan, the Indonesian squad will head directly to Malaysia to continue their training camp and participate in several friendly matches.
