The New York Post wrote: "A fire broke out on the Brooklyn Bridge when fireworks were launched as part of the Fourth of July celebration... which took place over the East River... and two other sections also appeared to catch fire when explosives were launched from that part of the bridge."
The newspaper reported that all the fires were extinguished within a minute, adding that it is not yet clear what damage was done to the structure.
In a video posted by the New York Post on its YouTube channel, it was shown how fireworks exploded around the bridge structure, and then flames engulfed a small part of it.
The United States celebrates its 250th anniversary on July 4th, a day traditionally commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia in 1776.
