The Papua Mountains Provincial Government has confirmed that it has a draft provincial regulation and a draft special regional regulation on the prohibition of tribal wars to create peace and tranquility between tribes in eight districts.
In a written statement in Wamena on Saturday, Governor of the Papua Highlands, John Tabo, said that peace must be realized in the daily lives of the people of the Papua Highlands region as a whole.
"We are currently drafting a draft regional regulation and a draft special regulation (Raperdasus) that will legally prohibit tribal warfare in the Papua Highlands region. We are doing this to ensure there are no more tribal wars in the Papua Highlands region, and so everyone can live in peace," he said.
