Slovenian rider Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates-XRG) reclaimed the yellow jersey of the 2026 Tour de France after a brilliant performance and victory in the sixth stage which ended in Gavarnie-Gedre, France.

Pogacar secured victory in the mountain stage with a spectacular performance on the Col du Tourmalet climb. The four-time Tour de France champion then rode solo for 43 kilometers to the finish line to record his 23rd career stage win in the event.

"I think this victory is in my top five Tour de France victories. It's an incredible victory and one of the sweetest," Pogacar said, as quoted on the Tour de France website

"We raced like we had nothing to regret. If we failed, we failed, but in the end we succeeded, and I'm very proud of the whole team. It was a great team effort."

The victory saw Pogacar surpass André Darrigade's record of 22 stage wins and place him as the rider with the fifth-highest number of stage wins in Tour de France history.

He also became the first defending world champion to conquer the King of the Mountains (KOM) category at the summit of the Col du Tourmalet.
