The 22nd National Sports Week (PON) in East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara is targeting East Sumba as a showcase for sports tourism through a combination of sports competitions, natural beauty, and community economic empowerment.
"In addition to successful implementation, achievements, and administration, the PON must also be a successful economy, including successful tourism. We must ensure that the PON impacts all stakeholders in the tourism sector, from accommodation and food to micro, small, and medium enterprises , and so on," said Marciano Norman, Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee , in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday.
Marciano inspected the Hapu Mbay Hall in East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara, Sunday (19/7), which will be the table tennis venue for the 2028 PON.
"This venue in East Sumba is a very suitable place and could be used for table tennis championships, where the athletes will be happy because of the beautiful atmosphere," said Marciano.
