PSMS Medan continues to refine its preparations for the 2026 President's Cup, including increasing the number of friendly matches with local teams in an effort to strengthen the team's cohesion.
PSMS coach Eko Purdjianto said in Medan on Monday that the trial matches were crucial for further developing the team's skills ahead of the President's Cup, which will take place from July 25 to August 6, 2026.
For their first friendly, PSMS played against Binjai City. The match, held at the Mini Pancing Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, saw PSMS secure a positive result, winning 3-0.
Despite the convincing victory, Eko Purdjianto emphasized that the final result wasn't the primary focus. He considered the trial more important as a means of assessing physical development, tactical understanding, and the implementation of the game model being developed ahead of the 2026 President's Cup.
