The online forum platform Reddit is once again accessible to users in Indonesia without using a Virtual Private Network after being blocked for approximately 11 years.
ANTARA on Friday tried opening the Reddit site using Chrome and Safari browsers on mobile phones, tablets and laptops.
All features on the Reddit platform such as the homepage, comments section, and user profiles can be accessed normally, without having to use a VPN.
Reddit access for users in Indonesia has been blocked since 2015 because, according to the government's assessment, the platform contains content that does not comply with censorship regulations in force in Indonesia.
The access blockage means that internet users in Indonesia have to use VPN services or alternative DNS to access Reddit, an online forum platform founded in the United States in 2005.
Reddit, dubbed the “front page of the internet,” is a place for users to interact and discuss shared hobbies, topics, and interests.
