Sean Gelael prepares wet race strategy at Interlagos

Indonesian racer Sean Gelael and Team WRT 32 are finalizing their preparations for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo race at the Interlagos Circuit, Brazil,  with a focus on anticipating potential rain during the race.

According to Team WRT's official statement on Saturday, the team did not really chase the fastest time in the two free practice sessions  and preferred to run a race simulation program according to the team's needs.

In the first free practice session or FP1, Augusto Farfus, who appeared in front of the home crowd, opened the Team WRT 32 program with a positive result after taking third place with a time of 1 minute 35.596 seconds.

After that, Sean and Darren Leung continued their training program, focusing on maintaining consistency using the same tires until the 90-minute session ended.

Entering FP2, Team WRT continued to avoid pushing for the fastest lap. The two BMWs, numbered 32 and 69, sporting a special Brazilian green-and-yellow livery, were focused on gathering data for potential wet conditions.

This approach resulted in Team WRT's two cars occupying the final two positions in the FP2 classification. However, this result doesn't fully reflect the team's strengths, as each participant's training program differed.

This season's FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) LMGT3 class also showcased a level playing field. Several top teams, including TF Sport 33 and AF Corse 21, appeared to be running similar programs to Team WRT in Friday's two practice sessions.

The Iron Lynx 61 Mercedes-AMG team was fastest in FP1 with a time of 1 minute 34.883 seconds. Meanwhile, FP2 was dominated by the two Lexus cars belonging to the Akkodis ASP Team, with times of 1 minute 34.498 seconds and 1 minute 34.535 seconds, respectively.

In the Hypercar class, Aston Martin led FP1, followed by two AF Corse Ferraris. FP2 was dominated by Genesis Magma Racing, with two Aston Martins completing the top three.

The 6 Hours of Sao Paulo race is scheduled to take place on Sunday (12/7) starting at 21.30 WIB and will be broadcast live on the KUY Entertainment YouTube channel and the gelaelized.com page.
