Social media analyst Rustika Herlambang believes that social media algorithms can determine how quickly or slowly an issue in society can develop.
"Today's policy communication must understand how public attention works in a marketplace of attention influenced simultaneously by humans and algorithms. Building resonance is now as important as conveying information," Rustika said in an official statement.
In her doctoral research entitled "Algorithmic Intermedia Agenda-Setting in the Issue of Relocating the Indonesian Capital City (IKN): Big Data Analysis of Online Media, Twitter/X, TikTok, and the Government's Agenda-Building Mechanism (2020–2024)", Rustika said that in the digital ecosystem, a social media algorithm can also influence the extent to which a message gains resonance in the public sphere and is also a factor that determines the visibility of an issue.
