Swiss national team coach Murat Yakin predicts the match against Colombia in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, at BC Place, Vancouver, will be fierce and full of pressure.
"We knew it would be an intense match, and matches like this are usually decided by big players," Yakin was quoted as saying by FIFA on Tuesday.
Yakin believes both teams possess the quality to create a tight contest. Switzerland comes into the match with confidence after topping Group B and defeating Algeria 2-0 in the round of 32.
The 51-year-old coach emphasized that Switzerland will not change their playing style. He wants his team to stick with the style that has seen them advance to the knockout stages.
"If we can defend, play our game, and put a lot of pressure on the opponent, then we'll see what can happen," said Yakin.
