The Corruption Eradication Commission suspects that the Regent of Kuantan Singingi , Riau, Suhardiman Amby and the Regional Secretary of Kuansing Regency, Zulkarnain, were involved in bribery related to the sale and purchase of positions.
"That's suspected. So, this bribe is suspected to be for the position of Regional Secretary of Kuansing Regency," said Corruption Eradication Commission Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK's Red and White Building.
Therefore, Budi said the Corruption Eradication Committee asked Suhardiman and Zulkarnain to surrender themselves.
On the other hand, Budi added, the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) is still trying to find the whereabouts of the two, such as involving the Riau Regional Police.
"In this case, the Corruption Eradication Committee is also intensively coordinating with the Riau Regional Police to search for the person concerned," he said.
Budi said the Corruption Eradication Committee was investigating alleged information leaks related to the sting operation.
"We will continue to investigate this information. What is certain is that the team is indeed searching for the relevant parties, including the regent and the regional secretary, whose whereabouts have not yet been identified," he said.
In the KPK's 14th sting operation in 2026, the anti-corruption agency arrested ten individuals in Kuansing and Jakarta. Five of them were then taken for questioning at the KPK's Red and White Building.
However, the Corruption Eradication Committee asked Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby and Kuansing Regency Regional Secretary Zulkarnain to surrender.
The Corruption Eradication Committee has 1x24 hours to determine the status of the parties arrested in the OTT in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code.
