Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has asked regional governments to strengthen the supply and smooth distribution of goods to keep inflation under control in the second half of 2026.
Tito also asked regional governments, particularly those still recording high inflation rates, to immediately take control measures in accordance with conditions in their respective regions, especially by strengthening the supply and smooth distribution of basic necessities.
"I have given instructions to all regions. My target areas are those with high cases, generally in the eastern region, and also in Aceh. The steps are to increase supply," Tito said in his statement.
Tito delivered the directive after attending the Limited Coordination Meeting on Evaluation of Inflation Control Achievements in the First Semester of 2026 and the Implementation Plan for the Inflation Control Program in the Second Semester of 2026 at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Building.
This step is considered important considering that a number of components, particularly the transportation sector and several food commodities, are still exerting pressure on inflation.
On that occasion, the Minister of Home Affairs confirmed that national inflation remained within a controlled range. Year- on-year , the national inflation rate was recorded at 3.34 percent, still below the upper limit of the national target of 3.5 percent.
However, the government remains wary of the monthly increase in inflation which is influenced by a number of factors.
