Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir has teamed up with several youth experts to discuss the overall character development of Indonesian youth to support youth development in the country.
"We at the Ministry of Youth and Sports want to hear from experts to create programs that meet the needs and challenges faced by Indonesian youth," Erick Thohir said on his official social media page, which was monitored.
A number of experts involved in the discussion were Hendarman, Dwi Indra Purnomo, and Firdza Radiany.
He explained that the discussion on youth development involving experts was a commitment of the ministry he leads to be able to produce young Indonesian men and women who have patriotic, persistent, and empathetic characters.
Previously, the Minister of Youth and Sports emphasized his commitment to ensuring that the youth programs implemented are on target and meet the needs of Indonesia's younger generation.
Youth development, he said, is a priority program of President Prabowo Subianto and therefore must be designed properly to address the aspirations and needs of the younger generation.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports, he said, also continues to support all regional governments in improving youth development. One step taken is the introduction of the Wirasena Award, given to regional heads with the highest Youth Development Index (IPP) achievements or significant improvements.
The award symbolizes the synergy between the central and regional governments in strengthening youth programs, including in the areas of character, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
