Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir instructed the newly appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Suyadi Prawiro, and the Deputy for Sports Industry Development, Teuku Arlan Perkasa Lukman, to carry out their duties with an eye toward realizing tangible results.
"I entrust the Secretary General and the Deputy with this responsibility. We must ensure that all the programs we implement truly benefit athletes, youth, the community, and the government," the Minister of Youth and Sports told the media after inaugurating the two officials.
He explained that Suyadi had been involved in the Ministry of Youth and Sports for quite some time, having previously served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Suyadi replaced Gunawan Suswantoro, who had moved to a new position as Special Staff to the Minister of Youth and Sports.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Sports Industry Development, filled by Teuku Arlan Perkasa Lukman, is a very important position in developing youth and sports with an investment paradigm.
The Minister of Youth and Sports said that sports development cannot be viewed solely from the perspective of achievements, which require expenditure to achieve.
Sporting achievements, he said, are part of the national image on the world stage, but sports can also be managed as a source of income through the sports industry and sports-based tourism.
