The Ministry of Communication and Digital will impose sanctions on cellular operators that have not implemented biometric verification methods in the registration process for new cellular number customers starting July 1, 2026.
Dany Suwardany, Director of Digital Ecosystem Control at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, explained that the government will impose tiered sanctions, starting with a written warning.
"So the administrative sanctions are implemented in stages, starting with a written warning," said Dany in a discussion titled "Editorial Discussion (DIKSI) with the theme "Biometric SIM Card Registration".
He added that the implementation of administrative sanctions will be carried out in stages until the third written warning letter is delivered with a time span of seven working days each.
