The Ministry of Communication and Digital has written to the Ministry of Home Affairs to propose a reduction in biometric data verification fees charged to cellular operators for each SIM card registration.
Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stated that her ministry is working to reduce biometric data verification costs because implementing mobile phone number registration using biometric verification methods aims to ensure public security.
"We have written to the Ministry of Home Affairs requesting a fee reduction. Ultimately, this policy aims to provide security to the public," said Meutya after attending the Joint Commitment Declaration for the Full Implementation of Biometric Data-Based Customer Registration.
