The Ministry of Social Affairs and the National Zakat Agency renovated residents' houses in Merangin, Jambi

The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections is collaborating with the National Alms Agency (Baznas) on a house renovation program in Merangin Regency, Jambi.

The house renovation activity was carried out by the Class II B Bangko Penitentiary (Lapas), Jambi, involving inmates or prisoners who worked to repair residents' houses from being uninhabitable to being more habitable.

"This house renovation program is a concrete manifestation of the implementation of the 15 Action Program of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto," said Head of Bangko Prison, Heri, in a statement received.

Heri stated that the Minister of Education and Culture's acceleration program encourages Corrections officials to focus not only on fostering inmates but also on providing direct benefits to the community through social initiatives, strengthening awareness, and collaborating with various stakeholders.

He explained that the residents involved in the different residents' houses already had skills in the carpentry field.

The involvement of inmates is proof that fostering independence in prisons can produce skilled, productive human resources who are ready to make a positive contribution to society.

In addition, Heri said, the house renovation program is a concrete form of concern from the Corrections Department and an implementation of the direction of the Minister of Education and Culture, Agus Andrianto, so that the results of the coaching have a broader impact.

"Corrections not only educate inmates, but also ensure that the results of that education benefit society," he said.

He hopes that through collaboration with the Merangin Regency Baznas, the house renovation program will bring hope to the recipient community.
