Google Cloud Indonesia Country Director Karim Siregar stated that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) is estimated to have the potential to generate economic value of up to IDR 200 trillion in Indonesia.
"In Indonesia, if we know what we're talking about, we're not just discussing the impact of AI, but we're also looking at an estimated economic value of Rp200 trillion," he said at a media briefing.
He stated that the economic value of AI utilization is not only in terms of revenue, but also in terms of work efficiency, improved risk management, and fraud prevention.
In addition, the use of AI is estimated to support an average of around 246 thousand workers each year.
Karim said that AI can be used to support increased worker productivity.
Google Cloud projects that the use of AI can increase worker productivity by about four percent or save an average of 1.1 work hours per person per week.
"If we add up all the productivity of workers in Indonesia, it's 350 million hours per year. This means that on a national scale, the impact of AI use is enormous," said Karim.
In the business sector, Karim said, companies that have utilized AI agents can feel the positive impact on business performance.
According to him, the use of AI in providing customer service can increase return on investment ( ROI) by up to 1.2 times.
He continued, the use of AI for business development has the potential to increase ROI by up to 1.3 times and its use in business data management and analysis functions allows for ROI of up to 1.6 times.
