The Joint Regional Defense Command III is currently deploying TNI personnel to secure the Balinggama airfield , Sobaham District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains.
Commander of Joint Defense Command III, Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto, Jayapura on Saturday evening that the deployment of TNI personnel from the Indonesian Air Force's Paskhas was carried out so that the aircraft could return to operating to serve the public.
According to him, the Balinggama Lapter has been guarded by TNI personnel so that flight activities to the area can be resumed.
He said that in addition to placing TNI personnel, his party had also cleaned up the wreckage of the AMA plane that was burned by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) which killed pilot Nicholas Gosselin, which occurred on May 31, 2026.
Lucky explained that the plane debris that was initially at the airport has now been moved to the side so that it does not obstruct flight activities.
"The wreckage of the ill-fated plane was moved to a safe place so that it wouldn't block the runway, so the plane could immediately return to service," said Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto.
