US President Donald Trump announced that he sent a congratulatory message to trillionaire Elon Musk after his net worth exceeded one trillion dollars, stressing that good relations between them continue despite some disagreements.
Trump said in an interview with CNBC: "I wrote him a letter saying: Congratulations, that's very good."
At the same time, Trump acknowledged having "some minor disagreements" with Musk – who heads the electric car manufacturer Tesla – over the current US administration's refusal to impose a mandatory shift for all citizens to use electric cars.
Trump explained that Musk was not happy with this approach, adding: "Elon is not happy about it, and I understand that, but things are going well."
Musk regained the title of the first trillionaire in history earlier this week, just days after losing it following a wave of widespread selling that swept through the global technology sector.
The return of the founder of the two companies to this historic level was supported by strong gains in a single trading session, as the stock of the space company “SpaceX” jumped by 7.6%, in conjunction with the rise of the stock of the electric car maker “Tesla” by more than 8%, adding to his personal wealth by more than $60 billion, bringing his net worth back above the trillion-dollar mark, according to the “Bloomberg Billionaires Index” and “Forbes”.
Musk had temporarily lost the title last week due to sharp declines in SpaceX shares following the price surge that accompanied its historic IPO, coinciding with adjustments that affected the valuation of his restricted stakes in Tesla.
It is worth noting that Musk first achieved this historic milestone last June, following the initial public offering of SpaceX, which raised its market value to record levels and pushed his net worth beyond the trillion-dollar mark, reaching about $1.05 trillion on the first day of trading, benefiting from his large stake in the space company, in addition to his investments in Tesla and other companies.
Elon Musk is known as one of the most influential figures in the technology sector in recent decades. He leads several major companies and has risen to prominence through his projects aimed at developing future transportation and space exploration, such as the development of reusable rockets and plans for Mars exploration. He also owns the "X" platform (formerly Twitter) and is known for his controversial style and impactful statements in the markets and technology sectors.
