England national team coach Thomas Tuchel said the third-place match against France in the 2026 World Cup is an opportunity to prove himself.
After being defeated by Argentina in the semifinals, England will meet France in the third-place match at Miami Stadium, United States, tomorrow, Sunday (19/7) at 04.00 WIB.
"Mentality isn't something you can switch on and off at will. It's a moment to show who we really are and what we've shown throughout the tournament," Tuchel said, as quoted on FIFA's official website on Saturday.
Victory over France, he continued, would be a consolation after England failed to reach the World Cup final as they did in the 1966 edition.
Their best finish since then was fourth place in two separate tournaments: in Italy in 1990 and in Russia in 2018. In other words, the Three Lions lost the third-place match in both tournaments.
