Analysis of flight data showed that US Air Force aircraft flew over the Gulf and surrounding areas amid escalating conflict between the United States and Iran.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) had previously announced that US forces were launching a new wave of strikes against Iran.
Central Command confirmed that the strikes were intended to further weaken Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Central Command statement indicated that "the strikes were an immediate retaliation for the Revolutionary Guard attacking American military personnel in Jordan last night."
This came after the Central Command announced the deaths of two American service members in Jordan while US and partner forces were responding to Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting the kingdom on July 17.
Thus, the number of American soldiers killed since the outbreak of the military confrontation with Iran has risen to 16, while the number of wounded has exceeded 430, according to American data.
This escalation comes at a time when the tit-for-tat strikes between the United States and Iran continue, with military operations focused on infrastructure and military targets, in parallel with the intensification of the confrontation around the Strait of Hormuz, amid growing fears of its repercussions on international navigation, energy supplies and the global economy.
In the latest developments in the operations, the US Central Command announced that its forces carried out, at dawn on Saturday, the seventh consecutive night of strikes against targets inside Iran, including observation and reconnaissance sites, military logistics facilities, underground weapons depots, and naval capabilities, as part of the ongoing military campaign between the two sides, while no new indications emerged of a resumption of mediation efforts or a return to the negotiating track.
