The West Sulawesi Provincial Government has proposed signing a memorandum of understanding with the National Research and Innovation Agency to strengthen the use of research results as a basis for formulating regional development policies.
West Sulawesi Governor Suhardi Duka, in a press release received in Mamuju on Saturday, said the proposal was submitted during a meeting with BRIN officials as part of efforts to build long-term collaboration in the fields of research, innovation, human resource development, and utilization of research results.
The meeting also served as a forum for discussing BRIN's research findings on the impact of natural radiation on public health in Mamuju Regency, as well as for formulating policy recommendations that could be integrated into regional development programs.
He said that research results, particularly regarding natural radiation in Mamuju Regency, need to be communicated openly and easily understood so that the public obtains complete information without causing erroneous perceptions or anxiety.
Suhardi also hopes that the collaboration with BRIN can strengthen the implementation of evidence-based policies in regional governance.
Meanwhile, the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Arif Satria, appreciated the West Sulawesi Provincial Government's commitment to promoting research-based development.
According to Arif Satria, Mamuju Regency, along with the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, has great potential as a research, innovation, and investment development area due to its geological characteristics and natural resources.
