Chinese communications technology giant ZTE and telecommunications infrastructure and internet services company PT Ekamas Mora Republik Tbk have agreed to collaborate on the development and expansion of Fixed Wireless Access and Fiber-to-the-Home services for residential and corporate customers throughout Indonesia.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties took place on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, China, at the end of last month. This partnership is said to be a response to the rapid growth in the need for broadband connectivity to support Indonesia's digital economy, while also emphasizing the commitment of both companies to jointly strengthen the national digital infrastructure.
"By combining MoraRepublic's infrastructure strength and local execution capabilities, we aim to improve broadband access and service quality for residential and corporate customers, while providing an implementation approach that is practical, easily scalable, and sustainable in the long term," said ZTE Indonesia President Director Liu Sen in his official statement.
Meanwhile, MoraRepublic CFO Yopie Widjaja called this partnership an important step in building a more flexible digital infrastructure ecosystem to support innovation, business growth, and broader digital inclusion throughout Indonesia.
Through this collaboration, ZTE and MoraRepublic will jointly develop a broader and more efficient FWA network, drive the evolution of FTTH networks, and improve service quality through artificial intelligence (AI)-based network operations.
The two companies will also explore AI-based end-to-end network architectures to support smarter broadband operations, service quality assurance, network optimization, and broadband service development. Furthermore, the partnership includes exploring commercial cooperation opportunities, joint innovation programs, proof-of-concept (PoC) activities, and technical knowledge-sharing initiatives to support future broadband growth.
