Lebanese President Joseph Aoun held talks with his Greek counterpart Constantine Tasoulas and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Athens, discussing bilateral relations and ways to develop them in all fields.

During his meeting with his Greek counterpart, President Aoun stressed that the framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, signed under American auspices, cannot be implemented unilaterally, but rather both parties must implement it fully, with Israel's obligation to adhere to it.
He called on Greece to provide its assistance in this regard, stressing that Lebanon has lived through the tragedies of wars for a long time, and that the time has come for it to rest, and that the best solutions are diplomacy, noting that solving the problem by military force has not and will not succeed, and that Lebanon is determined to end the state of hostility with Israel and establish the best relations with neighboring countries.
President Aoun pointed out that Lebanon paid a heavy price for the war, with the number of dead exceeding 4,300 and 12,000 wounded, with the total destruction of more than 60 villages, without any result being achieved, which confirms that military force is not a solution, and that diplomacy is the only way to achieve stability.
He also stressed that the stability of Lebanon is essential for the stability of Greece and Europe, and that its instability will negatively affect the stability of the entire region, stressing that the only possible solution is to address Lebanon’s two problems simultaneously and in parallel: a complete withdrawal of the occupation and the complete control of our armed forces alone over all our land.
Aoun added: Our relationship with any neighbor or friend is an entry point to similar relationships with all neighbors and friends without exception, based on the sovereignty of our country and mutual respect, and with the aim of achieving all the good for all our peoples.
For his part, the Greek President stressed that Greece stands with President Aoun in order to build peace and consolidate an independent Lebanon, stressing that his country will do its utmost during its presidency of the European Union starting in January 2027, in order to strengthen and consolidate relations between Lebanon and the Union.
He addressed President Aoun, saying: “Greece is well aware of the great responsibility placed on your shoulders in leading Lebanon, and we are certain at the same time that you will be up to the task entrusted to you and will lead Lebanon to safety after you assumed your duties in very difficult and sensitive circumstances.”
President Aoun arrived at the Greek Presidential Palace, and after the Lebanese and Greek national anthems were played, the two presidents moved to the reception hall where President Aoun shook hands with the members of the Greek delegation, and then the Greek president shook hands with the members of the Lebanese delegation.
