Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan affirmed that the Mecca Alliance is a defensive alliance based on international law and does not target any country or party, and is open to all countries in the region that support peace and stability.

Fidan added during a press conference, following the conclusion of "the first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, established under the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense between Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan," which was held in Istanbul:
He began working on establishing the institutional structure of the Mecca Agreement, stressing that the Mecca Agreement is a defense and security cooperation alliance, and does not target any other country or parties.
He added that the official name of the Mecca Defense Agreement is the "Mecca Defense Alliance".
He pointed out that the Mecca Agreement is open to all countries in the region that support stability and peace.
In contrast, Fidan stressed that this alliance does not cancel existing commitments within the framework of NATO or any other alliances.
He explained that the alliance was established primarily to expand in the future, but that it first required laying solid and firm foundations.
Fidan indicated that Egypt joining the Mecca Alliance is possible, taking into account the conditions and stages specified for membership.
The first meeting of the Strategic and Defense Committee, which emerged from the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defense, was launched today in Istanbul, with the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, and the Chiefs of Staff, from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
