Mikhail Baryshnikov, a member of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, made history by becoming the oldest player to participate in the history of the Russian Football Cup, at the age of 72.
Baryshnikov started as captain of Dynamo St. Petersburg in their match against FC 10 in the second round of the regional stage of the tournament, before leaving the field just five minutes after the start of the match.
Baryshnikov broke the previous record, which was held by Alexander Medvedev, the former chairman of the board of directors of Zenit, after he participated in September 2025 with the Amkal team at the age of 70, and played 23 minutes against Salyut Belgorod.
Baryshnikov's sporting activity is not limited to football, as he also plays for the veterans' football and hockey team at Peterhof club.
