The headquarters of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, will host the draw ceremony for the preliminary rounds of the African Champions League and the Confederation Cup for the new 2026-2027 season.
CAF explained in a statement on its official website on Sunday that the draw ceremony will take place next Thursday, August 6, 2026.
He noted that the Confederation Cup draw will begin at 2:00 PM local time (11:00 AM GMT), and an hour later the draw ceremony for the African Champions League will take place.
The statement indicated that the draw ceremony for the two tournaments will be broadcast on the CAF channel on YouTube, so that the public throughout the African continent can follow it.
The preliminary rounds up to the round of 32, as well as the final rounds from the quarter-finals to the final match, are held in a two-legged knockout system with the away goals rule applied.
The round of 16 is held in a group system in both tournaments, where the teams are divided into four groups, each containing 4 clubs, with the first and second in each group qualifying for the quarter-finals.
It is worth noting that South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns are the reigning African Champions League title holders from last season, while Algeria’s USM Alger won the Confederation Cup.
