Al Ahly SC of Egypt faces a new challenge in renewing the contracts of a number of its players, following a crisis in negotiations with the duo Imam Ashour and Marwan Attia.
A source within Al-Ahly club confirmed that Imam Ashour and Marwan Attia requested financial privileges similar to those in Ahmed Mustafa "Zizo's" contract, stressing that they are key pillars of the team and have delivered outstanding performances during the past period, while Zizo did not participate in the Club World Cup.
The source added that the duo believe their technical contributions to Al-Ahly deserve recognition when discussing new contracts, which is what prompted them to stick to their financial demands during the renewal negotiations.
The source concluded his remarks by confirming that Al-Ahly's management is continuing negotiations with the players in an attempt to reach an agreement that satisfies all parties and resolves the renewal issue before the start of the new season.
