The Egyptian Cabinet's Media Center issued an official statement settling the controversy surrounding a video clip alleging a shortage and disappearance of health insurance medicines.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population categorically denied what was stated in the circulated video clip, stressing that all basic medicines included in the health insurance system are fully available and are dispensed regularly to beneficiaries of the General Authority for Health Insurance services nationwide.
The ministry explained that this stability includes medications for chronic diseases, tumors, and kidney dialysis sessions, noting that there is a safe strategic stock and reserve of these medications sufficient to meet the needs for the next 6 months.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health emphasized its full commitment to providing medical services and dispensing medications to insured individuals through clinics and outlets affiliated with the General Authority for Health Insurance located throughout the various governorates. The Ministry urged citizens who encounter any obstacles or shortages of certain medications to immediately contact the hotline (105) to ensure their complaints are addressed promptly.
At the end of the statement, the Cabinet's Media Center appealed to citizens and the public not to be swayed by rumors and misleading videos aimed at creating confusion, and stressed the need to obtain accurate information and data from official sources and relevant government agencies.
