Huawei is preparing to launch the new MateBook Pro S computer, equipped with a slim and lightweight chassis, to be one of the most prominent competitors to Apple's MacBook Air computers.
According to the latest leaks, the computer is equipped with a 14-inch screen and a durable metal chassis, weighing only 798g, which is about 432g lighter than Apple's MacBook Air computers that come with a 13-inch screen.
The new device retains the familiar design of the MateBook series, featuring a black keyboard, a large touchpad, and a chassis that is 11.9 mm thick.
Leaks indicate that the computer is equipped with two cameras on the back of the screen cover, in addition to a third camera in the traditional location at the top of the screen. It is likely that the two additional cameras are dedicated to some artificial intelligence functions, but Huawei has not yet officially revealed their purpose. The device also includes USB-C ports on each side, and a physical switch for webcam security.
The computer is powered by an Arm Kirin XE90 processor, which was developed by HiSilicon specifically for Huawei devices running HarmonyOS. The processor has ten cores with a frequency of up to 2.45 GHz, in addition to 16 and 32 GB of RAM, and 512 GB and 1 TB of internal SSD storage.
