Japanese tennis players dominated the semifinals of the men's singles M-15 Series 2 of the 2026 Amman Mineral Men's World Tennis Championship after their two representatives, Keisuke Saitoh and Asahi Harazaki, secured their places in the final four of the tournament held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Friday.
Saitoh caused a surprise by eliminating South Korean top seed Sanhui Shin, ranked 442nd in the world, in a thrilling 2 hours and 20 minutes. The left-hander won 7-6(6), 0-6, 7-5.
The victory saw Saitoh face Australian Ryan Sam Ziegann in the semifinals.
Ryan qualified after defeating Thai representative Tanapatt Nirundorn with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 7-6.
"I'm very pleased with my results in the second series compared to the first. I'm starting to get used to the hot weather in Nusa Dua, Bali. The series of tournaments I've participated in have also had a positive impact on my game," Ryan said in a written statement.
Meanwhile, New Zealander Isaac Becroft secured another semifinal ticket after defeating eighth seed Ryuki Matsuda from Japan.
Becroft will next face Asahi Harazaki, who completed Japan's dominance in the quarterfinals. The winner of that match will advance to the final.
In the men's doubles, the final match scheduled to take place at Field A Nusa Dua, Saturday at 11.00 WITA, will bring together the top seeded Japanese pair, Taise Ichikawa/Hikaru Shiraishi, against the pair Isaac Becroft/Daisuke Sumizawa.
Ichikawa/Shiraishi secured their ticket to the final after defeating their compatriots, Ryotaro Taguchi/Masakatsu Noguchi, in two straight sets.
Meanwhile, Becroft, who played doubles in this tournament, advanced to the final again. Partnering with Daisuke Sumizawa, they defeated Yutha Kawahashi and Ryuki Matsuda 6-1, 6-4.
The doubles final is scheduled for Saturday, while the men's singles semifinal will determine the two players who will compete for the ITF M15 Series 2 Amman Mineral Men's World Tennis Championship 2026 title.
