Liverpool ended their 2026 pre-season campaign on a positive note after defeating Como 2-0 at Anfield.
This match marked the second meeting between Liverpool and Como on the same day. Previously, the two teams played to a goalless draw at the AXA Training Centre.
For the second meeting, both teams fielded some of their best players. Liverpool fielded Virgil van Dijk and new signing Jeremy Jacquet in the heart of defense.
Liverpool took the lead in the 23rd minute. The goal came from a quick attack down the right flank by Jeremie Frimpong.
Frimpong brought the ball close to the penalty box before sending a cross to the far post. Gakpo greeted him with his left foot and immediately fired a shot which found its way into Como's goal despite being escorted by an opposing player.
