Hungarian side Ferencváros beat Turkish side Trabzonspor 4-0 in the second leg of their Europa League qualifying playoff.
Mohamed Salah's stance after the resignation of the Trabzonspor coach
Trabzonspor coach Fatih Teke announced his resignation immediately after the match following the harsh European exit, but his decision was met with attempts by Trabzonspor players to keep him in his position.
Turkish media reports revealed that a number of the team's players made efforts to convince the Turkish coach to withdraw his resignation and continue leading Trabzonspor, and Mohamed Salah was among the group that tried to contain the situation after the defeat.
One of the Trabzonspor activists also posted on his official page on the "X" website that Mohamed Salah tried to convince Fatih Teke, the Trabzonspor coach, to withdraw his resignation.
The moves by Trabzonspor players came at a sensitive time, especially given Fatih Teke's strong relationship with several members of the dressing room, in addition to the fact that the coach had been in charge of leading the team since his return to the club.
Meanwhile, Trabzonspor's management made their position clear regarding the coach's resignation after officially announcing their refusal to let him leave.
The club said in a statement via its official accounts that Tiki made the decision to resign under the influence of the emotional state left by the loss to Ferencváros, confirming that the board of directors did not accept the resignation.
Trabzonspor added that Fatih Teke will continue his role as the team's technical director and will be at the helm of the coaching staff during the upcoming match against Amedspor in the Turkish League.
