In a statement marking North Korea’s liberation from Japanese occupation, Moscow affirmed that the traditions of combat solidarity established in 1945 are a solid foundation for the development of Russian-Korean relations in the new stage.
The ministry's statement on Telegram read: "Today, in accordance with the wishes of our ancestors, we continue to make active efforts to develop and strengthen bilateral cooperation."
The ministry also stressed that the alliance-based nature of bilateral relations "was clearly demonstrated by North Korea's unwavering support for the Russian military operation in Ukraine."
She continued: "We salute the North Korean soldiers who fell in the battles to liberate Kursk province from the Ukrainian neo-Nazis and foreign mercenaries."
It is worth noting that August 15, 1945, marks the day of Korea's liberation from Japanese occupation with the support of the Red Army and full armament from Moscow, and it remains a national holiday in both Koreas.
