Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria highlighted new cyber threats from the development of quantum computing, including the practice of harvesting now, decrypting later .
In this pattern, the perpetrator does not have to immediately open the stolen data, but stores it until technology is available that can decrypt the data.
"They've stolen some data, but they can't open it because it's encrypted. They just saved it and took it," Nezar said in an official statement received.
Nezar made this statement at the ITSEC Cyber & AI Academy Grand Launching. He stated that cybercriminals could steal and store encrypted data for future access if quantum computing capabilities were able to crack current encryption systems.
