Saudi sports journalist Mohammed Al-Ahmari directed sharp criticism at Frenchman Karim Benzema, Al-Hilal's striker, amid increasing speculation about the possibility of his departure from the "Leader" in the coming period.
Karim Benzema, 38, moved to the Saudi "Roshan" League in the summer of 2023, joining Al-Ittihad after the end of his career with Real Madrid, before moving to Al-Hilal last January.
But Benzema's future has become a major concern in recent days, amid reports of disagreements between the player and Al-Hilal's management, along with news indicating the possibility of his departure from the team within a week, without yet deciding on his next destination.
During his appearance on Rotana Khalijia channel, Al-Ahmari spoke about Benzema's experience in Saudi football, considering that the French striker, despite his great value, did not provide the same contribution that the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo provided to Saudi sports.
Al-Ahmari said: "Benzema is a great asset, but he did not give Saudi sports its full due like Ronaldo did."
He added, commenting on the future of the Al-Hilal striker: "This will certainly be the end of him," indicating his expectation that Benzema's journey with the club is nearing its end.
In contrast, Al-Ahmari praised the moves made by Al-Hilal’s management during the current summer transfer window, stressing that the new deals will give the team additional strength during the season.
He believes that Al-Hilal is experiencing a special phase, in light of the reinforcements that the club has made, which will enhance the team’s capabilities and allow it to compete strongly for upcoming championships.
