A medical source at Nasser Hospital reported the arrival of the body of a Palestinian and a number of wounded people following an Israeli drone strike on a tent for displaced people in the Ghaith camp near the industrial area west of Khan Younis city.
Local sources reported that the bombing resulted in the death of one Palestinian and injuries to others, who were transferred to Nasser Medical Complex for treatment.
The raid comes amid continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10, 2025, despite US President Donald Trump's call to halt strikes on the Gaza Strip.
In an interview with Fox News on August 17, Trump said that Israel "should not be carrying out strikes in Gaza," noting that Hamas had agreed to give up its weapons under his plan to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
In this context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced in its daily statistical report that the sector’s hospitals received 7 martyrs during the past 24 hours, including 5 new martyrs and two who succumbed to their wounds, in addition to 10 injured people.
The ministry explained that the death toll since the ceasefire came into effect has reached 1,303 martyrs and 4,336 wounded, while the number of bodies recovered has reached 814.
She added that a number of victims are still under the rubble and in the streets, as ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them.
Thus, the death toll from the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 has risen to 73,438 martyrs and 174,447 wounded, according to the Ministry of Health.
The ministry notes that most of the victims are children and women, while Israel destroyed about 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the sector, and the United Nations estimated the cost of reconstruction at about $70 billion.
