The world's largest trade show for computer and video games, Gamescom, officially kicked off in Cologne.
The trade show opened to business visitors and media representatives on Wednesday, and the five-day event was attended by more than 1,600 exhibitors from 67 countries and regions, with more than 70 percent of them being international companies.
This is the first time that the entire exhibition hall has been booked by exhibitors at Gamescom 2026. The number of exhibitors is at a record high, and the scale of the exhibition zone for independent game developers, dedicated to showcasing the creativity and products of small teams, is also unprecedented, said Felix Falk, managing director of the German Games Industry Association.
He added that this is a sign of the enormous appeal of gaming culture.
Co-organized by the Cologne Exhibition Center and the German Games Industry Association, Gamescom 2026 features game play sessions, cosplay shows, a variety of board and car-themed games, an artist zone, campus recruitment, and sales of game-related products across a 233,000-square-meter exhibition area at the Cologne Exhibition Center.
