Reuters quoted the Pakistani army as confirming that Pakistani army chief Asim Munir's talks in Iran focused on ways to prevent further escalation and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The agency said that General Assem Munir held comprehensive talks with Iranian officials, which also addressed ways to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for global energy shipments.
For his part, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi said that talks with the Iranian leadership had made "great progress," adding that the meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ended at a "very positive point."
The Pakistani Interior Minister explained that his country is discussing with Iran the reactivation of the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" regarding the settlement of the conflict, noting that the talks focus on tensions in the Middle East and ways to open a path leading to peace.
Pakistan’s moves come as part of Islamabad’s efforts to play a mediating role between the parties involved and to push for a reduction in regional tensions through dialogue, at a time when concerns are rising about the repercussions of the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz on shipping and energy supplies.
