BRI Super League club Persik Kediri has strengthened its defense by signing two imported defenders.
the official I.League website, Saturday, Persik Kediri landed South Korean defender Park Jun Heong and Guinea-Bissau defender Marcelo Djalo.
Persik Kediri coach Marcos Reina said Park Jun Heong's arrival could be a solution to the White Tigers' defense, which was quite fragile last season.
"Looking at his build, Park Jun Heong is ideal for a center-back. He's tall and has a great physique," Reina said.
The Spanish coach added that the South Korean defender has the ability to compete in aerial duels against tall opposing strikers.
"I see that he is a capable defender. He is very good for duels in the air or fighting for the ball in the penalty box. Park Jung Heong is also good at controlling the ball. This is an important factor in our game pattern later," said Reina.
Meanwhile, Marcelo Djalo said he chose to join Persik Kediri because the Spanish-born player enjoyed the new challenge of pursuing a career in Indonesia.
The former Granada player continued that he was determined to give his best to help the White Tigers squad achieve a better position and performance than the previous season.
"I want to help the team with all my experience and skills. I'm determined to give 100% of my energy to achieve the club's goals. I'm confident that with the help of all team members, that mission will be realized," said Djalo.
The Marcelo Djalo-Park Jun Heong duo will be the twin towers in Persik's defense, making it difficult for opponents to penetrate. Both players, standing over 1.9 meters tall, are ideal for aerial battles against towering strikers from other clubs.
