The Indonesian Football Association expressed concern over the negative criticism of Indonesian national team player Justin Hubner and his family by irresponsible individuals on social media.
"Yes, that's definitely a concern. We know Justin, he's very Indonesian to me," PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi told the media.
Hubner was the victim of hate speech and serious threats via text messages on Instagram. The threats were directed not only at him but also at his wife, Jennifer Coppen, and young daughter.
Yunus said Justin is a player who has a high spirit and patriotism when playing for the Garuda squad against other countries.
"Just look at him when he plays, he beats everyone up with his skills. But it's a shame that there are still people in our society who criticize him, even bullying their wives and children like that," he said.
