Nur Qhalisah Asysha and Tan So Leng Amelia forced the U16 Putri Nusantara National Women's Team to a 0-2 defeat against the Singapore U16 National Team in the Group B match of the 2026 Srikandi Merdeka Cup at the Supersoccer Arena, Kudus Regency, Central Java, Monday.
From the start of the match, the hosts, coached by Takumi Tanaguchi, appeared aggressive in attacking the heart of Singapore's defense.
The crowd was in an uproar after Dian Aprilia Kari put the ball into Singapore's goal in the 34th minute after capitalizing on a rebound that the Singapore goalkeeper failed to catch.
However, after a VAR review by referee Wawan Rafiko, the goal was disallowed because Dian was offside.
The hosts dominated possession, but Singapore's defense was so solid that Putri Nusantara found it difficult to penetrate.
In the second half, the team created a chance on the counter-attack in the 50th minute. However, Oktavia Savara's long-range shot went wide of the goal when the Singapore goalkeeper had already left his area.
