Signs of bird flu infection in humans

Dr. Victor Zuev, a virologist at the Gamaleya Center, reported that a fever of 40 degrees Celsius, weakness, shortness of breath, and damage to the digestive system may indicate an infection with bird flu.

He says: "The main symptom is a sharp rise in temperature to between 39 and 40 degrees Celsius. This is accompanied by general weakness, muscle and throat pain, runny nose, headache, dry cough, and shortness of breath."

In addition, digestive problems, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, may also accompany these symptoms.

Avian influenza is a contagious disease caused by strains of influenza A virus, which are widespread globally. Many wild bird species carry the virus without apparent harm, but some, including domestic birds, can become infected and can be transmitted to humans.

It should be noted that Australian authorities announced this August a mass die-off of birds due to the H5 strain, and warned of a high risk of the disease spreading throughout the country.

Statistics and official reports indicate that the virus has spread actively and widely among wild and domestic birds worldwide in recent years.
