Hong Kong U-16 Women's National Team coach Chan Shuk Chi believes her team's participation in the 2026 Srikandi Merdeka Cup is an important opportunity to prepare for the 2027 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers.
"This tournament is very good. It also serves as preparation for the AFC U-17 qualifying tournament scheduled for October 2026," he said.
According to him, the Hong Kong players learned a lot during the tournament. Besides competitive experience, they also learned about teamwork and how to deal with various situations during matches.
He also appreciated the organization of the 2026 Srikandi Merdeka Cup and was grateful that his team had the opportunity to accept the invitation to perform in Kudus Regency.
"Furthermore, with all the arrangements for this tournament, our students have also gained a lot of experience. This tournament was also held to gain that experience, and I will never forget it," he said.
Meanwhile, regarding the 0-1 defeat to Garuda Pertiwi in the final Group A match, Chan Shuk Chi said his team was unable to field several key players due to illness, so they were unable to perform at their best.
