The development of AI presents new challenges in the judicial process

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria stated that the development of artificial intelligence  technology also presents new challenges in the legal field, including in the judicial process.

At the National Law Forum, he stated that generative AI is currently capable of producing what is known as synthetic reality in various formats.

"This is significant when we observe that in judicial processes, evidence is presented in the form of recordings, videos, and photographs," he said, as quoted in a ministry press release confirmed on Tuesday.

According to him, AI's ability to produce videos, photos, and sounds that resemble real events presents challenges in the authentication process.

"This is a crucial test. How can the evidence convince the panel of judges? How can the court authenticate the evidence presented in court?" he said.

Such conditions require people working in the legal field to increase their knowledge of digital technology and AI developments.
