The United States Soccer and Canada Soccer federations have supported the statement by the three confederations criticizing FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
"US Soccer, Canada Soccer, the CFU and the UNCAF stand together, along with our partners around the world, in calling for meaningful changes that strengthen FIFA's governance, transparency, and accountability," their joint statement via X quoted by Sports Illustrates.
This stance has put the two 2026 World Cup hosts at odds with the Mexican Football Federation, which continues to support Infantino.
The statement came after the three world football confederations, namely UEFA (Europe), CONCACAF (South America), and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), issued a joint letter calling for changes in FIFA's governance.
US Soccer and Canada Soccer also shared a link to the three confederations' joint letter on social media.
In the letter, UEFA, CONCACAF, and the AFC emphasized that football does not belong to any particular individual. This statement indirectly criticized Infantino's leadership.
"Leadership in football is not about ownership. Leadership is not about holding or demanding power. Football does not belong to any individual," said the joint statement from the three confederations.
